Being a parent can be very overwhelming due to the amount of products out there and sometimes you may find it quite difficult who to trust. However, this is where YourTot comes in and our main goal is to provide parents credible buying advice from those that are parents themselves. Whether you are a first time mum or dad or already have multiple children, there is new products hitting the market everyday.

All of the content that you find upon our website has been written by our team (we are all parents) and reflects our testing, experience and the latest research. We do not allow third parties to create content upon YourTot.

Our Editorial Team

Currently, the editorial team is just made up of the two founders (Charlotte and Daniel) but we have a number of parents that contribute to the creation of content and product testing. Each and every article that’s posted upon the website goes through various quality checks and it can take weeks to publish an article. This is due to the research required, product testing (if its a roundup or single product review) as well as the final checks. As we grow as a website, we intend to recruit other parents that was to come part of the YourTot team. If you are a parent and want to join the YourTot team, please enquire via [email protected].

Writers That Are Parents

Unlike other websites that have freelance writers or journalists create content, we are the complete opposite. We are all parents and YourTot has been designed specifically by parents for parents. Therefore, you are getting credible buying advice and information from a parents point of view. If you want to find out more about the team, visit our about page.

Types of Articles

1. Informative

Guides that provide information take up a big portion of the website and our editorial process differs quite a lot depending upon the topic. For example, certain topics can be answered in 500 words whereas others may need 5,000 words.

2. How To

Tutorials (also referred to as “How To” guides) are very popular and we always attempt to go into great detail. Whether we are showing you how to sterilise bottles or setup a baby bouncer, as we own most of the products, we can provide very detailed tutorials. The tutorials will also include lots of unique photos and videos (taken by our team) in order to answer every possible question that you may have.

3. Product Reviews

By far the most popular and largest portion of your website is made up of product reviews. These product reviews come in the form of single products or product roundups. Unlike other websites, we put the products trough thorough testing and as we are parents ourselves, we test the things that other parents want to find out. You can find out more about how we test here.

With regards to the product testing, most of the products are bought outright for our reviews. However, we do get approached or approach brands to request for their product as a gift or sample free of charge. We do this to keep our costs down but also to obtain as many products for testing purposes as possible. Therefore, this greatly improves our website due to the amount of real-world testing we are able to carry out. However, it’s important to note that if we obtain the product free of charge, this doesn’t dictate how we test or what we say about the product. We do not agree to any pre-conditions with the brand and we only recommend products that we would use ourselves.

Apart from the “product” images that we are required to use by affiliate programs we are part of, all the images found in our reviews are taken by our team. We state this because “real” photos are what we use as evidence of actually testing the product and this is something many other websites don’t provide because they aren’t actually testing the products. We made this one of our main objectives when creating YourTot and it’s what sets us apart from similar websites.

Trusted Source For Parents

Due to the vast amount of so-called “parenting” websites online, it can be difficult to decide who to trust when it comes to the product reviews and information. However, at YourTot, we are parents ourselves and we thoroughly test and review products to provide trustworthy and credible buying advice. We are always transparent about how we test and review product and we would never recommend a product that we wouldn’t use ourselves.

Fact Checking, References & Sources

Whenever we state an important piece of information, we will always check the statement upon reputable websites. For example, if we state the temperature bath water needs to be for your baby, we would link to a reputable website such as the NHS or Pampers as an example. To ensure our commitment to content integrity, we’ll also reference/link these sources in our content.

At YourTot, we avoid creating health related content because we want to leave this to the experts, which is of course the NHS, your health visitor or doctor. Therefore, if anything health related is mentioned, we will always link to the NHS as the source.

Latest Information

As all of the team at YourTot are parents themselves, we are constantly researching the latest information available and producing content for the website. We also regularly read through our existing content to make changes where possible.

Parenting in general is a fast moving topic and the products and information you need as your child grows from a newborn to a toddler is fast moving. Therefore, we need to update our content quite regularly to ensure you get the most up to date information.

With that being said, if you do spot anything upon our website that needs updating, please get in touch!

Reader Feedback

We love to hear back from parents that read our content and if you have any feedback, please¬†get in touch via our contact form or directly via [email protected]. Whether its an improvement that can be made to our content or something that you want to see, we would love to hear what you have to say.

Informational Purposes Only
